23 Feb “心爱文化: Chinese in My Heart”
By Ms. Shirley Tan and Ms. Liza Chua
Chinese New Year Festival, also known as the Chinese Spring Festival, is without doubt, one of the most important Chinese festivals with a history of more than 4000 years. And last February 11, 2021 , the Grade School Department celebrated the Spring Festival with a short, but meaningful program. Entitled “心 爱 文 化“ or “Chinese In My Heart”, the program not only showcased the different talents of the pupils in singing, dancing and in playing the piano, it also showed how rich and beautiful the Chinese culture is! Selected students from Kinder to Grade 6 participated in the program. Our own Chinese teachers, Ms. Janella Panares and Ms. Camille Santiago shared their inspiring journey in learning the Chinese language under the 1+2+1 Program of Philippine Cultural College. Pupils were also moved by the story alumna Polly Ann Limpe – Alianan on finding her new mission in China. Her sharing reminded us all of Mother Delia Tetreault’s dream of forming children who will sing of God’s goodness throughout the world.
The program was made even more special by the performances of the school choir and orchestra of Good Hope School, our sister school in Hongkong. It was Good Hope’s way of celebrating with us not only the Chinese New year but also ICA’s 85 th anniversary.
Indeed, we face this Year of the Ox with Chinese virtues and values in our hearts!
