09 Nov A Day to Remember
By Ms. Charmian Esteban
Every year, there is a specific day when regular class schedules are put on hold, students
prepare fun games and activities, and teachers take the backseat. The usual classroom
“entertainers” leave the stage and become spectators. For what occasion? It is all because of
Teacher’s Day, a day to honor and celebrate the men and women who commit their lives to
mold the mind and character of the youth.
This year, ICA celebrated Teacher’s Day last October 4, 2019, Friday. The event was made
special due to the concerted efforts of the administration and students to organize a series of
activities for the faculty. Apart from the hearty meal served to them, there were dance and
song presentations and games during the Teacher’s Day program. The Celebration of the Holy
Eucharist was also dedicated to uplift and strengthen their spirit, reminding them of God’s love
and presence. Above all, the letters of appreciation and simple tokens from the students
definitely put a smile on the teachers’ faces.
Teaching is a vocation; it is a calling. Anyone may teach but to sustain the love and passion for it
makes all the difference. Thus, aside from pausing for a day amidst the busyness of everything,
may we all observe each day as Teacher’s Day!
“Teachers affect eternity; no one can tell where their influence stops.”
