24 Aug Mommy’s Girl: A Mother-Daughter School Tour
By: Geraldine Tan-Lim, 1988
It was a beautiful sunny morning last August 22, 2018 when ICA held its first-ever Mommy’s Girl: a school tour for alumnae with daughters or granddaughters who will be applying for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten for the coming SY 2019-2020. A project of the ICA Alumnae Association in partnership with Immaculate Conception Academy, the objective was to acclimatize the girls to the environment before they take their test. 14 pairs of mothers-daughters/grandmothers-granddaughters joined the tour and it was a happy homecoming/introduction for the alumnae and their children. Ms. Lizanne Liong, ICA Institutional Relations Officer, toured the families around the PK1 classrooms, the learning center, the playground, the Delia Tetreault Arts and Sports Center (DTASC), and the Grade School library. After the tour, the girls were encouraged to stay with the teachers where they had a sample of classroom activities. The girls listened to a story, answered questions, sang, and danced. The parents on the other hand went to the Archives to view school memorabilia. It was indeed a successful undertaking! The mothers and grandmothers were visibly excited to show their daughters and granddaughters their alma mater. One alumna remarked “it was refreshing to see change in ICA” while another felt it was “very good to show her husband what ICA was all about.” To the little ones, Good Luck on your upcoming entrance tests and to our alumnae, Welcome back!
