June 7, 2017 was another grace-filled day for Immaculate Conception Academy, Greenhills. The most awaited blessing ceremony of the Henry Sy Sr. Hall Senior Hall that will house the Grades 11 and 12 students finally took place. The event was well-attended by parents, students, ICA employees, benefactors, alumnae and other esteemed guests.

The event started with a Thanksgiving Mass held at the ICA chapel at 9:00 AM.  It was presided by Reverend Father Aristotle Dy, S.J. and concelebrated by his brother Jesuits, Rev. Fathers Ting Samson, Xavier Olin and Guy Peter Guibelondo along with Msgr. Esteban Lo, LRMS.  Bishop Joseph Cai from Xiamen, China  was also in attendance which made the occasion more special.

 

Sr. Irene N. Ferrer, MIC, the school president, in her welcome address, extolled and praised God for His providence, goodness and love.  It was indeed a joyful thanksgiving for everyone because the occasion was not simply in gratitude for the new building the school has been blessed with but also for God’s fidelity to the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception whose 115th Founding Anniversary was also being commemorated.

 

Sr. Regina Villarte, MIC, the congregation’s provincial superior also expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the individuals whose generosity and dedication made the dream of constructing the building a reality.

 

After the Mass, the assembly headed to the Henry Sy Sr. Senior Hall for the blessing.  Ms. Charmaine Esteban, the Senior High School Academic Coordinator, gave the welcome remarks to formally open the event.  During the blessing, the guests were treated to a tour of the new building to view the classrooms, auditorium which has a 499 seating capacity, discussion and advising rooms, Mac Laboratory, STEM Robotics Laboratory, Culinary Arts Laboratory, Conference Rooms, Lecture Room and other facilities.

 

The blessing ceremony ended with a beautiful closing song, “Magnificat”, rendered by some MIC sisters.

Finally, the celebration joyfully culminated with a sumptuous meal at the Ling Ling Chung Assembly Hall.
