29 Oct Grateful for the Gift of Mission
Grateful for the Gift of Mission
By Mrs. Jessie M. Gallos
This year is very momentous for all Catholics especially for the ICA community. This October, as we celebrate the rosary and mission month, we remember God’s faithfulness and glorify Him for the many graces He has bestowed upon us. First, we thank the Lord for the gift of faith. For 500 years, with God’s grace, the Filipinos have been able to keep the faith alive and continue to nurture it. Second, we are truly grateful for the gift of mission. God sent the MIC Sisters to our country 100 years ago and they have been helping in the propagation of the faith, especially to the Chinese Filipino community. Third, we feel so blessed for the gift of Catholic Education. For 85 years, with Mama Mary as its Patroness, ICA has been guided in its mission of “bringing children to sing the goodness of God”. Grateful for this gift, ICA renews its commitment and takes the challenge of forging new paths in Catholic Education.
Last October 5, 2021, the Grade School family opened the month of the holy rosary with gratitude for the gifts of faith, mission, and Catholic education. The living rosary was held from 8:00-9:00 am at the ICA Chapel and it was streamed via Zoom. The event was made more meaningful by the participation of some ICA Alumnae whose responses to the call of mission were featured through a video presentation. The community witnessed the different ways our graduates have nurtured and multiplied the seed of faith and mission that was planted in them by ICA. Like Mary, our dear Mother, they too have become women of faith, excellence and service.
In order to deepen the pupils’ devotion to Mary through the holy rosary, the entire month of October is dedicated once again to the daily recitation of the holy rosary. Just like last year, Family volunteers led the prayer. ICA is truly blessed and grateful for the 463 families who joined the Block Rosary. Some teachers and office staff also volunteered and led the classes in praying the rosary. Our girls were happy to pray with their teachers and the school staff from the Business Office, IT and Library. The last day of the block rosary was dedicated to all missionaries especially our dear MIC Sisters.
God is so good! He has blessed the school community through Mama Mary with the graces we need to continue the mission despite this pandemic. Let us share our giftedness to the world and allow the fire of mission to continue burning in our hearts.
May the Blessed Mother keep us in the mantle of her protection.
