Kalusugan at Kalikasan Pangalagaan

The Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Grade One pupils celebrated the Nutrition and Environment Week last July 17-21, 2017. The celebration entitled "Kalusugan at Kalikasan Pangalagaan" aimed to provide creative opportunities for pupils to live by ICA’s philosophy that as stewards of creation, every person respects, develops and uses creation as God intended it.

The celebration kicked off with the launch of "Healthy Tuesdays" where the pupils were encouraged to bring healthy snacks for recess. This activity is a yearlong project that teaches our girls the value of eating right. In addition, a talk on good hand washing practices and the benefits of eating healthy food was given to the PK1 pupils by Dr. Karen Lim, our resident physician, in Multi-Purpose Hall 2 (MPH2).

The culminating activity, held in the PK1 Assembly Area on July 21, started with a presentation of posters of different fruits and vegetables to showcase their benefits to the body. The teachers also participated by acting out the story of "The Messy Monster" to teach the pupils proper waste disposal. The pupils also played a sorting relay game to practice segregating trash such as papers, tetra packs, plates and plastics.

After the program, they watched a presentation of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in the Learning Center. The presentation strengthened their awareness of garbage segregation and encouraged them to practice it.

To cap off the day, the pupils engaged in an art activity called the "Tissue Roll Tree" to show that art can be created even with recycled materials, thus emphasizing the importance of recycling.

Truly, the week was filled with fun and enjoyable learning activities for the kids!
